I'm interested in how things work — and in taking good care of what's in front of me.

I'm Kaylind Novick, a recent M.S. graduate in Cellular & Molecular Biology with an undergraduate background in forensic science.

I've always been curious about the part of a question that isn't obvious yet. That's part of what drew me to forensics: the idea that careful science could help make sense of incomplete information. Graduate study took that curiosity deeper into the biology itself and gave me a broader foundation for a career in life science, research, and related work.

At the same time, a completely different part of my résumé has been growing alongside the academic one.

I started babysitting young, then added nannying, dog sitting, pet care, and years of repeat clients and referrals. Those experiences taught me things no lab manual could: how to stay calm when the plan changes, how to communicate clearly with people who are counting on you, how to notice when something is slightly off, and how much trust can be packed into something as simple as showing up on time.

I don't think of those as two versions of me.

I like careful work. I like being useful. I like learning how something works, whether that "something" is a biological system, a research question, a kid's bedtime routine, or the exact reason a dog will only eat dinner after you move the bowl six inches to the left.

Outside of work and school, I love being outdoors, reading, spending time with friends and family, and getting to the beach whenever I can.

Right now, I'm excited to find the professional environment where I can keep learning and contribute meaningfully — while staying connected to the families and pets who have been such an important part of my life along the way.
